A rare collection, spread over 32 libraries in 19 countries, is now online. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched yesterday in Paris, the World Digital Library (World Digital Library, WDL), a literary and artistic collection available online in Portuguese and in six other languages. The WDL is actually a media center and has so far scanned 1,400 objects, including rare books, manuscripts, letters, films, sound recordings, photographs and illustrations.
